The Rest Are Shelters Premiere

We are proud to announce the premiere of the documentary The Rest Are Shelters at the Toronto Short Film Fest.

The film is brilliantly directed by Sophie Nation and captured by DOP/Exec Producer Joel D’alimonte. Produced by Jonathan Neil Alexander and Sophie, Exec Produced by Hop To It’s Susan Nation.

The film features compassionate and insightful conversations with several unhoused people in downtown Toronto about their struggles and what home means them.

According to the City of Toronto’s 2024 Street Needs Assessment, an estimated over 15,0000 people are experiencing homelessness in Toronto. This figure represents a crisis level, more than doubling from approximately 7,300 in April 2021. The system operates at or near full capacity, with over 9,000 individuals using shelters nightly. These people are sometimes known as “invisibles” so Sophie wanted to give them faces and voices and promote empathy.
