The Sloppy Jones team (Jonathan Neil Alexander, Sophie Nation, Jamie Hart, Susan Nation, Sebastian Sage and Lory Mpiana) was thrilled to attend the 11th Canadian Screen Awards in support of comedic icon Linda Kash for her nomination for Best Supporting Performance, Web Program or Series.
Linda Kash plays Deborah Jones, antagonist Frank’s estranged wife and the scheming restaurant mommyger/new owner of the Sloppy Jones Grill where the protagonists work.
Unfortunately Linda Kash, Colin Mochrie and Emily Cohn were all working out of town that week and could not celebrate in Toronto.
The Canadian Screen Awards
The Canadian Screen Awards (CSAs) bring together the screen-based industry annually to celebrate the country’s honoured achievements in the film, television and digital sectors in Canadian Screen Week. The CSAs are presented by The Academy ofCanadian Cinema & Television, Canada’slargest non-profit professional media arts organization in Canadawith over 4,000 members.The Academy is dedicated to developing, recognizing, celebrating, and advocating for Canadian talent in the film, television, and digital media sectors. Members of the Academy vote from a long list of submissions from their peers. The Digital Media Section was particularly competitive
The Award Ceremonies were held over several days and nights at Meridian Hall in Toronto from April 11–14, 2023, as part of Canadian Screen Week. The Digital Awards were an intimate independant affair held Thursday at lunchtime. Highlights of the ceremonies aired in a CBCTelevision special on April 16, 2023, hosted by Samantha Bee.
Thank you to Linda Kash and all our incredible Mentors, Exec Producers, Cast and Crew. And thank you to our amazing supporters OUTtv and Ontario Creates. It was great to see their team at the Awards cheering on the diverse web series they support.
The team members were in amazing company, and got to network with such talent – so many brilliant creators and performers. They were thrilled to see Sloppy Mentor and Director of Episode 6, Winnifred Jong, win best Director of a Web Series for Tokens.
Hop To It was also incredibly proud to see Lamar Johnson, who was in dance series Pop It! with Sophie and Jamie from Sloppy Jones many many years ago, win best Performer for the Feature Film Brother.

More About Sloppy Jones
Sloppy Jones is a short form slasher comedy series created by Sophie, Jonathan and Jamie. It features three queer twenty-something servers working at the Sloppy Jones Grill: RORY, a free spirited people pleaser played by Sophie; HARPER, a book-smart, bisexual bartender played by Jamie; and THOMAS, a calculating b*tch played by Jonathan. This Unholy Trinity’s world is upended when they discover the bloody torso of their dirtbag boss FRANKJONES in the freezer, just as DEBORAH, Frank’s estranged wife, makes a perfectly timed entrance into their lives. They are caught red handed disposing of the body by wine heiress CASSIE played by Lory Mpiana and a mysterious SLASHER. Now every single one of them looks guilty and no one is safe until the trio find out-Who killed Frank…and who will they kill next?
