Toronto, October 5, 2023 – Hop To It Productions is thrilled to announce its participation in MIPCOM 2023, where the company is nominated for a Content Innovation Award for queer slasher comedy Sloppy Jones.
Toronto, October 5, 2023 – Hop To It Productions is thrilled to announce its participation in MIPCOM 2023, where the company is nominated for a Content Innovation Award Best Short-Form Series for Season 1 of queer slasher comedy Sloppy Jones (6 x 4 mins),
The series was produced with support from Ontario Creates, Tax Credits from the Government of Canada and OUTtv and is available outside Canada. It features three queer 20-something servers alongside Canadian comedy legends Linda Kash and Colin Mochrie who play estranged couple Deb and Frank Jones, owners at the Sloppy Jones Grill in Niagara Falls (The Canadian side). The three servers find Frank’s bloody torso in the beer fridge and get caught “red-handed” by Deb and wine heiress Cassie Ley. They stop at nothing to dispose of the body and party like it’s 1999. This entertaining series is a breakthrough in representation written by and for 20-39 year-old girls, gays and theys, inspired by the lives and tastes of creators Sophie Nation, Jonathan Neil Alexander and Jamie Hart, with help from mentors like Amanda Walsh (Schitt’s Creek), Colin Mochrie, Judy Croon (Second City), Jill Golick, Winnie Jong (Tokens), Linda Kash, Dale Hildebrand (Under the Lemon Grove) and Carrie Cutforth.

Edward Kay (This Hour) has joined the original team as a Story Editor for a much bigger Season 2 as our trio of servers try to solve Frank’s murder, sort out their love lives, pay their rent and stay alive. Susan Nation will be at MIPCOM looking for financing/collaborators.
Le Balcon
A 6 half-hours Comedy Series for adults 18-55, with global appeal. Selected for Series Mania 2023 France Canada Co-Production Lab in Lille.
Renowned Canadian TV Producer Brad (Colin Mochrie) loses his job, gets divorced, and impulsively moves to beautiful south western France to find new love and success as a hotelier. With limited French, patience, or hospitality experience, he struggles with culture shock, constant repairs of his iconic mansion, bureaucracy, and the expectations of demanding guests.
