About YOLO Bistro AKA Sloppy Jones
Sloppy Jones is a fresh queer, campy, colourful, 6 episode Dramedy Series set in the kitschiest dive bar you’ve ever been to. It’s a heightened look at modern millennial relationships, and the hospitality industry with a hyper, sexual, and dark twist. Following the story of ruthless cougar (Linda Kash) and her dive bar staff of twentysomethings struggling with bills, sex and murder. The melodrama of Scream meets the young, real energy of Broad City and the dry campy comedy of Schitt’s Creek.
The series offers audiences a modern view on LGBT and feminist representation. The complex queer characters face exciting challenges that are not focused on gender identity, but rather other aspects of everyday server life. Sloppy Jones is unfiltered, unapologetic and truthful to their target audience of LGBTQ millennials.
Audiences have already started to connect on Instagram, where the creators and cast members host a weekly talk show, Sloppy Hour each Tuesday at 6:30 pm(est) on IGTV live.
“Sloppy Hour is keeping us creative and social while we ramp up for production. It’s a way of getting to know our audience— we do Q&As with the chat. We want viewers to participate in the games we play.” – Jamie Hart, co-creator and actor (Harper Shelly)
The ACTRA ensemble cast is lead by incredible Canadian comedic icon and Philly Angel, Linda Kash, Broadway star Jeigh Madjus and includes the three co-creators Jamie Hart, Sophie Nation, and Jonathan MacDonald.
The crew includes award-winning DGC director and mentor Winnifred Jong and DOP Dale Hilderbrand.
Award-winning Canadian actress, Linda Kash will surprise audiences with her role as Frank’s estranged wife, Deborah Jones. The classiest, Niagara casino loving MILF you’ve ever seen. She’s here to collect money, sleep with the charming Damien (Sebastian Sage), and solve her husband’s murder case – in that order.
“I’m not trying to prove myself in the way I used to when I was younger. I’m just having a gas with a role like this. It stretches me a bit, which is gold, it’s fun.” – Linda Kash
Triple threat Jeigh Madjus is Sloppy Jones’ very own Broadway Baby. He has worked in Canada and internationally as a comedy film star with Linda Kash in Servitude, as the lead, Lola, in hugely successful musical web series Prison Dancer, as a waiter with Sophie Nation, and as a Broadway actor. Jeigh plays Antoni Torres, a chic, glam, slightly paranoid chef who would rather be singing the full soundtrack of Phantom than slaving away over a hot stove.
“I’m excited to play Antoni because he gets to wear cute outfits and not cook… Just to be fun, flirtatious, and fierce!” – Jeigh Madjus
Sloppy Jones stars creators Sophie Nation, Jonathan MacDonald and Jamie Hart alongside Canadian vets Linda Kash, Sam Malkin, Broadway’s Jeigh Madjus, Second City alumni and teacher Isabel Kanaan, up and coming Toronto talents Sebastian Sage and Lory Mpiana, and Instagram Influencer Pom Pom Chewy.
