Northern Nightingales is a 8 x 11 minutes live-action digital-first dramedy for tweens, young teens and families about finding your voice in a new country and connecting with family and friends through a love of singing.
LOGLINE
When Grace, a talented 13-year-old Filipino singer and social media star, immigrates to Canada to join her Mom after five years apart, she must overcome major culture shock and try to forge asuccessful life in a strange and cold new home. Can she reconnect with family, make friends and find her true voice when she joins the Northern Nightingales Competitive Choir? Or will her ambition and “Tuyo” snacks get in the way?
We follow Grace (Arielle Perez) as she settles in Canada with her cousin Ria (Isabel Kanaan) and mother Angelica(Aura Carcueva) then rehearses with, performs in and eventually competes with the Choir. The series has elements of tween/clean-teen Glee, Pitch Perfect, Next Step, and iCarly in the traditional choir setting (versus show choirs and pop contests) with amazing diverse trained musical talent.
It also has a unique young comedic Filipinx immigrant lens from co-writer/star Isabel, and stars Arielle, Peyton and Aura.
