Synopsis
Jade’s sixteenth birthday is an awesome day.
First, her mother gives her a very special birthday gift, a silver necklace that belonged to her Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and which — according to family lore — is endowed with special powers.
Then there is a surprise birthday with Lola and all her friends and teachers from the Vibe Academy, Jade’s dance school and home away from home.
There’s singing, dancing, flirting and one final surprise gift. Jade is invited to take part in a 2 week Vibe workshop in Xcaret, Mexico.
The trip to the Mayan Riviera with teachers Mandy Mitchell and Mark Johnston, and Vibe’s top students is a cultural exchange (they run one every year to a different location). They’ll teach dancers from a local Mexican dance school run by friend Alejandra hip hop and learn salsa and other Latin dances from them in return. At the end of the month, the two groups will join forces to put on one amazing show at the famous Grand Tlachco amphitheatre.
The group heads off and a blissful month of sun, beach, song, dance and new friends quickly turns into the adventure of a lifetime. Soon after arriving in beautiful Xcaret, a mystery involving missing artefacts, Jade’s birthday necklace and a Mayan myth of hidden treasure begins to unfold.
